Just got these not too long ago so I haven't used these hard core yet. However, I did test them on my 37ac. property and since I have realistic expectations I am very happy with them. My expectations - I don't expect any hand held FRS/GMRS to go more than 3-5 miles on top wattage and no more than a mile on low wattage. Yes, it would be nice if they didn't say 28miles on the package but that is marketing nowadays for ALL of the competitors. These Unidens easily reach from one end of my property to the other on low wattage, regardless if we are in the house or outside. Since my kids play in the river they needed to be waterproof and these allow us to stay in touch. Really, these are waterproof to 10 feet, appear well built and simply work. All of this and I got them for only $80. Wow.
